You know when you see a book for sale online, and it's from an artist you love, and you order it blind only to realize that the book has few illustrations and the ones that are included suffer from bad lighting and low quality reproduction?This is not that book.This is an absolutely beautiful book, completely filled with color photographs on high-quality, glossy paper. She includes many inspiring projects for you to try, with instruction on using watercolor, collage, ink, etcetera. I've decided to start doing letter-writing/journaling programs at my local library, and am eager to try some of these ideas with others in my community.

The author is an artist/illustrator who does a fabulous job of sharing her inspiration and techniques in this book. Rather than teaching specific projects, Geninne demonstrates her process for creating nature-inspired art using ink, watercolor, and collage with well-written text and beautiful photos.There are 32 pages of collage papers included. So many ideas for any artist here, from beginner to advanced. As an aside, I look for reviews written by folks who have actually read the book and avoid making assumptions about the author’s use of materials.

Like another reviewer, as shown in my photo, I stopped at the porch swing and tore open my Amazon package as soon as I received it, knowing this book was inside. Geninne’s book is visually beautiful and I love hearing her share about her history and journey as an artist. Her narrative is also full of little tips like really noticing your surroundings and taking up close photos of things that interest you. I also bought some white acrylic ink to use in detailing my watercolors as she has used. I’m savoring this book and taking it slow...I don’t want it to end! Especially if you love birds and plants, this may be one for you to check out for sure !

Quirky, creative, packed with information and ideas....I loved this book and heartily recommend it to artists and want-to-be artists. While some artists are tight-fisted about techniques and special tools, Geninne isn't that way at all. Both open-hearted and open-handed, she shares everything and realizes that nobody can be Geninne, and nobody can copy a style completely rare and untque to the author.Also, the back of the book has about 32 pages of usable papers for collage projects, etc. I've read and reread the text and almost feel like she is a close friend. Her filters are down and she shares readily and in an almost childlike way.I highly recommend this book to artists, teachers, dreamers. Hurrah for this artist.

A visually beautiful book. Instructions are easy to follow with accompanying pictures. I am so in love with the collage papers!!! My only grouse is that the collage papers are printed back and front...now I have the most difficult task of choosing which side to use!!! This is a book that will make you happy and itch to start creating.

This is a delicious book. I love the details in this book on how to choose the right paints, inks, brushes, paper,etc to get a project to look more satisfying in the end. I also like the detailed photos of the step-by-step process Geninne goes through when she makes her artwork. The color is great and the writing is very good. I totally recommend this book.

If you like birds, nature, drawing, painting, collage, ink or just looking at gorgeous photography you will love this book. I was very pleasantly surprised at the amount of content and great instruction. Definitely worth purchasing. You will not be disappointed.

This book is amazing. I love all of the projects and Geninne's explanations of the projects are super helpful. I bought one for me and one for a friend.

Finally! The church's completely hymnal available on all your devices. CPH has some OK apps for the Treasury of Daily Prayer and the Pastoral Care companion, but neither of those contains the complete package that the hymnal does as far as prayers, hymns and services. I've been waiting and hoping for an electronic edition so that I don't have to lug the book around. I always have my iPad or iPhone with me).The Kindle version of the LSB is the entire text as it appears in the print edition with the bonus of having ALL 150 Psalms available. That's a definite advantage. Having said that, Lutheran Service Book has several hymns that are available only in the Lutheran Service Builder software, but not in the print edition of the hymnal. Why not include those? If you're adding extra things that aren't in the print edition, why not add everything you can? It's a small niggle, but one that would have made the electronic edition not just equal to but maybe even better than the printed copy.Let's talk ease of use. The electronic edition of LSB is set up for super-easy navigation. It is well indexed and hyperlinked throughout. Add in the ability to bookmark pages as well as add highlights and notes, and I think the electronic edition is actually easier to get around. (In "live" tests versus a printed hymnal, I've found that finding a section or hymn is just about equal in the time it takes to do so). One of the things that makes the indexing better than most Kindle books is that the titles of hymns are hyperlinked so that you can easily jump between the hymn and its section listing (like "Easter" or "Redeemer" sections, etc.) and the main index. Another cool feature is that the actual hymnal indexes are hyperlinked, so that when you look up a tune or meter or first line in the index, you can jump straight to the hymn.That makes using the hymnal very easy and I have actually done so in worship. I can jump between the Kindle app and a PDF of the bulletin and readings so quickly, that it's like the book and paper except...without the paper!The formatting of this edition is the same as the print edition. That means it will look best on an iPad and not as great (as in, smaller and harder to read) on an iPhone. I'd recommend setting your Kindle to "single column" and using it in portrait mode because that will maximize the page on the screen and be more like holding the actual book. Since some of the material in LSB is already in two columns (like the pages of the liturgy), it is too slimmed/crunched when set to more than one column.The only real fault I would find with the electronic edition of the LSB is that the hymns themselves are images embedded in the book, rather than nativey a part of the text. I'm not sure how you could do it otherwise and still retain the same look as a printed page in the book. Note, however, that if there are stanzas of the hymn beyond those with the music, these are regular text that is a part of the book. This sets up the weird situation where if you wanted to use the Kindle's search function to find words in a hymn, it would only find words in stanzas that aren't in the portion of the hymn with the music; and that means you can't search the actual text of most hymns, because the search doesn't pick up the text in the graphical portions of the hymns. The other small detail I noticed when singing is that there is no indication if there is more of a hymn than what is displayed in front of you. For example, if you have a hymn (with musical notation) that is two pages in the printed version, it is certainly easy enough to swipe between the two pages on the Kindle (since you can only see one page at a time) but you might not know there's more to be sung if you aren't familiar with the hymn. A little arrow at the bottom on such pages would probably be helpful.In summary, the electronic edition of the Lutheran Service Book is a faithful, complete, and entirely useful rendition of the printed hymnal into electronic form. If you are comfortable using a tablet, you'll have no problems using the hymnal in the varieties of ways it can be used, without having to crack the cover of the actual book! For those techies like me that's awesome!

I find it awkward to use. It is a digital hymnal, yet none of the hymns are typeset with the rest of the text in the book. All of the musical scores and lyrics are static black on white images. This poses several issues for me:You have few options for displaying the musical scores in the hymnal. If you choose a font size and background color for the rest of the book, every time you come across a musical score it is the fixed black text on white background.None of the lyrics can be searched, unless it is the extra verses added after the music.I find that when pulling up a hymn, the hymn image appears on the page with hymn number/title on top and footnotes on the bottom. With my 9” tablet, the font of the hymn image is small. Every time I pull up a hymn I have to tap and hold on the image and press the magnifying glass to get it slightly bigger and then “X” out of the magnifying glass when done. These are just extra steps I need to do every time I look up a hymn that reminds me how poorly the book is formatted.Bottom line, they didn't typeset any of the musical scores so you are severely limited in how you view the majority of this hymnal.

I love the Lutheran Service Book and was desiring my own copy, but I was hoping and praying for a Kindle Version, given the convenience of an Ebook. When I contacted CPH over a year ago they told me that due to copyright licensing issues, an ebook verion was not available. I am so glad that something got worked out, although the fonts in the print version are different than the ebook version and the readability of the hymns is very dependant on screen size. (Great for a 10" tablet, not so much for a small smart phone.) I look forward to using it in worship without having to bookmark every hymn and being able to just jump right to it. I find it easier to read on my tablet than the print version.

This is an exact copy of the print LSB hymnal. I got it in hopes that I could enlarge the hymns to make them easier to read. Then was disappointed to find that they are pictures and not text, so cannot have their size changed by dragging fingers apart or together. THEN I figured out to press and a zoom option comes up that makes the hymn full page. Some time later I found that the full page zoomed version CAN be further size modified by dragging fingers apart or together. SUPER!The only thing I don't like is that on my kindle fire there are no page numbers corresponding to the print page numbers. So I have to keep bookmarks and notes that tell me what page numbers in the liturgy and the same as places in the kindle version.

I agree with many of the other reviews, the hymnal itself is great and I have been anxiously awaiting this kindle edition but am disappointed in that it is not designed to allow the user to enlarge the print for those with inpaired vision. This is not the easy road to a large print edition. It does work better on my iPad for enlarging, but not conveniently.

The LSB is a wonderful book for Lutherans to use at church, at home with their families, or for personal study. It includes the Divine Services, all of the psalms, the daily office services, special services (weddings, baptisms, funerals, confirmation, etc), prayers, the Litany, The Creeds, The Small Catechism, and over 600 hymns . The kindle version is a little hard to navigate on my small phone screen, but is likely better on a tablet or kindle device. I would highly recommend this for every Lutheran (especially LCMS) to augment your worship at home.

This books hit you like a cool breeze while relaxing on the beach. She pulls you in and wraps you up with characters who become family.Eyes On Me is a must read!

I really liked this super cute, young adult book. It was cheesy but soooo good. While it was a pretty common trope we see with a smart girl and a jock, this was different in many ways. There was the added factor of dance lessons, which I thought was so fun, especially between teenagers. It really showed the benefits of dance throughout the book.All the characters added dimension to the story. The main characters, Lily and Stone, were perfect together. They thought they were so different from each other, when in reality they had a lot in common. Stone is more of a live in the moment guy vs. Lily’s planned her entire future out. While Stone was popular, Lily was a nerd, yet they both were hiding in plain sight. But, they both showed a lot of change throughout the book. Stone was seriously the nicest jock. The only problem I had was obviously him taking money from Lily’s dad to dance with her, but you do understand why he did it. And Lily, my heart seriously broke for her. She had been dealt a rough hand lately and I just wanted to give her a big hug. She also had anxiety and I thought the way Harris explained Lily’s feelings of anxiety was done exceptionally well.My only complaint would be that it was slow paced. I really had to push to get into the book, but it was so worth it in the end.I would definitely recommend this sweet young adult story. At her first lesson Lily encounters Stone Torres, the high school’s star quarterback and son of the dance studio’s owner. Lily’s dad knows she doesn’t want to spend her free time learning to salsa so he offers Stone a large payment if he will become Lily’s permanent dance partner and encourage her to keep taking classes. Stone knows that his family’s business is in jeopardy and reluctantly accepts Mr. Bailey’s money in hopes that he may be able to help keep the studio open. However, as Stone and Lily spend more time together the two form a connection that neither want to lose.What’s Good: I love a book with a smart main character and Lily was a fabulously brainy girl. Also, s a person that reads a lot of YA, I appreciate when an author has an original angle. Harris’s dance studio romance had a very cute and originally feeling premise.What’s Not So Good: It took me a really long time to warm up to Stone and Lily. They just didn’t really connect for me until about a third of the way through the book. I was may more interested in the possible romance between Stone’s sister and his best friend.Bottom Line: This is a cute book about opposite attract that fans of YA romance will enjoy.

As you can tell by my rating of 5 stars, I adored this story! It was one I picked up and was immediately sucked into what was happening. The characters were extremely relatable, but also realistic. While we had the klutziness of our heroine like we see a lot of times, she was able to get over it when she wasn't spending so much time dwelling on it, and just worrying about what she was doing in the moment. And then there was our love interest, Stone, it was impossible not to adore him. Because even though he was sweet, and a perfect book boyfriend, he still was a teenage boy, and the way his character did things and reacted to situations was very realistic, in my opinion.The one issue that I knew would be hanging over Stone's head and probably cause our big final bit of drama, while obvious, the money her father had paid him, played out in a such way that made what normally seems like an overreaction in this type of situation to me, made perfect sense. I still adored the way he made his grand gesture, loved Stone's sister Angela's movie love for this.So much of this story had me smiling and happy, and I can't wait to share this book with my students, as well as other readers!

I applaud Rachel Harris’ EYES ON ME. Concerned about her stress level, Lily Bailey’s father enrolls her in dance classes in hopes of relaxing her. Unknown to her, he offers star Brighton High football player, Stone Torres, money for being her dance partner. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for young adults.EYES ON ME was an entertaining and believable read. The characters were well developed. I like Lily. She puts a lot of stress on herself to become valedictorian and to get accepted to Harvard. After winding up in the hospital, her father enrolls her in dance classes as an activity to get her mind off her classes. Stone is a good guy. Out of concern for the financial well-being of his mother’s dance studio, he accepts money from Lily’s dad to be Lily’s dance partner. As he gets to know Lily, he feels conflicted about taking the money. Cameron Montgomery is the perfect antagonist. She is Lily’s competition for valedictorian and Stone’s ex-girlfriend.I enjoyed the plot. There were good life lessons and moral issues. I have taken ballroom dance classes, so I respected that aspect of the story. Being Hungarian, I appreciated that Stone’s mom/dance instructor was born there. I like that the characters faced significant obstacles and grew as a result. This is the first book that I have read by Rachel Harris. I enjoyed her writing style. I would read books by her in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
