I got this calendar, well, because it's a calendar and I needed one. I thought the illustrations were cute and they appealed to the silly in me. It was promoted as a witches calendar but it isn't. The little information tidbits in it are bland and so general it makes me think the "author" ransacked the dictionary. Most importantly for me though, NONE of the 8 sabbats are listed. None. Well, I take it back. They listed October 31 as Halloween but I don't think that had anything to do with it being a Sabbat. That being said. It is a calendar. The illustrations are charming. But, it has nothing to do with paganism in any form. Back to the Witches Almanac I guess.

I purchased this calendar because I thought the artwork looked interesting and because of it being titled Modern Witch. Imagine my disappointment when I find none of the Pagan holidays shown. The Moon phases are shown and the traditional Jewish and Christian holidays were labeled, along with the civil holidays for the US, England, Australia, and New Zealand. I am very disappointed. I would return the calendar, but the cost is simply not worth the resources. I gave it two starts because I do like the artwork, but feel it is incomplete as a calendar aimed at witches or Pagans..

We originally purchased this calendar for my mom, who absolutely loves stuff like this, and ended up liking the artist's work so much that we purchased another one for ourselves. Featuring Camille Chew's lovely and unique illustrations, this calendar is very attractive and will make a nice addition to anyone's space. Also, as another reviewer previously mentioned, there are some informative tidbits as well, which though small, are a nice touch nonetheless and do not detract from the value of the calendar in any meaningful way. Either way, I would absolutely recommend this calendar.

This is the most comprehensive textbook on psychopathology in the market. It describes the biopsychosocial etiologies of the disorders in the DSM, with sample cases. The format is reader-friendly, good-sized print, very visual with high quality, coloured drawings, and in not too many pages. Each chapter has a self-evaluation part at the end. Although I studied Medicine, I'm specializing in clinical neuropsychology and I can say that this book is written for postgraduate psychology students. Instead, Massey's compulsory text for Clinical psychopathology is Sadock&sadock, way beyond the league of lecturers and students as it's designed for psychiatrists, which means that the book presupposes things that do not and have never happened in the history of the Bachelor or Masters Degree in Psychology, mostly biochemistry, genetics, anatomy, pathophysiology and pharmacology. If any clinical psychology lecturer I've ever had, had demonstrated a good command of this Abnormal Psychology the ψ students would be at the level of Medical students in terms of psychiatric pathology. I have used this book in several postgraduate assignments and in my thesis and only one lecturer with an isoelectric EEG gave me the lowest mark I've got in my academic life. The reason given was that in the 10 pages of references, I had used one undergraduate textbook. The rest of the times I've used this book I got A's. So, my advice for what it's worth, is use the book but reference whatever you have extracted from it as it had come from a higher level textbook if you suspect your lecturer may be oligophrenic or more commonly a narcissist ignoramus. Really, this is the best book you'll find for width, depth, clarity, format, and contents. Just as I suggest 3rd & 4th year medical students to get a book written by 2 nurses called simply Pathophysiology to really understand organ-system pathophysiology in a clear, complete, concise, elegant, and visually attractive manner at a great price. In brief: Yes, buy Abnormal Psychology (there's a Kindle version, I've got it), it produces great returns for investment, and it's all you'll ever need to explain psychopathology theories and treatment (medical & psychologically).

I like the book. This book is definitely VERY useful and contains a lot of information and it's up to date to DSM-5.However, I don't like that it's the binder ready version. I prefer textbook version since with loose pages, even with a 3 hole binder, the pages can get torn out, especially the end pages. I like my books pristine and I don't like ripped or broken pages, so that is my only concern.

I'm not giving this a low rating because of the content. I'm giving this a low rating due to the horrible design of this binder edition. This is the worst text book I have ever had to purchase. The pages are so thin they rip and do not stay secure in the binder. It's so hard to study from and doesn't transport well back and fourth to classes. If you can find a bound version I would highly suggest getting that instead. I wish I could give a negative rating.

Annoyed this was a "loose leaf" version book. Bought a 1" binder and just added it myself. Book itself has no issues, and there are no binding rings included in the packaging.

Very, very cool. It is much more in depth than the initial abnormal psych book of 10 years ago. Even reference current information on how our health system impacts mental health care. Looking forward to using it for my Psychopathology Class.

On the back of this text it states "1,000,000 can't be wrong!" And after using this text for the past month I can see why, among the myriad of Abnormal Psych. texts available, this one is considered heads above all the others.The authors write in a way that is accessable to undergraduates and/or graduate students (like myself)who are studying this subject matter for the first time. They go in depth on etiology, assessment, treatment, and prognosis on a myriad of DSM-IV-TR disorders.Don't let the price scare you away. Text books are like anything else; you get what you pay for. Purchases such as this one are an investment in your career. Don't short-change yourself. Buy the best!

This text was required for a college course I am currently taking and I found the best price for it here on Amazon. The book arrived quickly and even though it was used, the cover, binding and inside are in great shape. The book is well-written and anyone with interest in abnormal psychology would most likely find it very informative. I would definitely do business with the seller again since they offered the book in better condition than I expected and at an attractive price. Thanks!

This was one of many books that I ended up reviewing for teaching psychology class for both graduate and undergraduate studies. I found this book a very good selection for undergraduate studies. It was well organized, very good overview and a solid tie into the DSMVI TR at the time. While there might have been some dated material, I expect that in text books and outside material nicely supplemented where it might have been lacking. Excellent study guides and summaries for professors! Very good book!

When I first read the title I under-estimated the amount of knowledge the book would have. This book contains 40 projects that are all great, it shows step by step instructions with pictures on how to complete each project. I will just mention a few of the projects that I liked the most, building a chicken tractor, building a chicken coop, how to build beehives, installing fences, self-watering garden beds, aquaponics and hydroponics, solar and wind powered systems, and even how to build sheds for different animals. The book explains the basics of each chapter, such as basics for housing chickens or explaining aquaponics and hydroponics. If you have been looking at how to become more sustainable this book is a great start.--Emory, Goodreads  Surprisingly thorough and varied. It covers a lot of projects that would be of interest and does so in great detail. Each project covers skills and concepts that can be used on projects not covered in the book. Writing this book was a fascinating journey in coming up with projects that were innovative enough to be something you'd want to add to your homestead as well as straightforward for you to build. I also wanted to be sure they'd be good-looking--an asset to your property and easy on the eye for the neighbors. These also had to be functional projects that were easy to use and maintain. That meant looking at a lot of projects on existing homesteads to see what worked and what didn't. An example: Too many chicken coops require you to get down on your knees to gather eggs and top up the feeder and waterer. I learned with my several flocks of poultry that if my coop is easy to access, I'll do a better job of caring for my birds. I also tried hard to keep things simple--no exotic materials and nothing that is crazy hard to build. You should be able to find all your building supplies at your local home center. It is my hope that the steps and plans provided will be enough guide anyone who is moderately handy.

was expecting 40 projects but the book counts multiple chicken coops and other projects as different so you really only get about 20

These seem to be a compilation of old books that my grandfather use to have back in the 30's. That is not a bad thing and I think a lot of the things discussed in this book should be taught in schools as there is nothing more important in life than knowing how to grow your own food. Knowing how to eat it is a good thing to learn as well...a lot of good information and ideas.

Great projects! I thought it would be more "take these nails and wood and build something" but it's a bit more modern than that. For example, the windmill project requires buying a windmill kit and not how to build a windmill (although there's a lot to erecting a windmill so it's still helpful). Good companion to The Backyard Homesteader.

Very basic guide, I was looking for something a bit more technical and in depth. The solar and wind section was very minimal and left a lot to be explained.

Only one real chicken coop - quite a bit info on fences, not exactly what I was looking form but there are a few gems in here.

Loved this book so much that I took it to the local hardware store but left it in a cart. When I realized it, I ordered another.I'm mildly handy with tools and can fill in any gaps this book creates, but having these step by step pictures gives me the confidence I need to build the backyard of my wife's dreams

Full of excellent projects that I'll actually use! I live in the suburbs of Minnesota and garden in my front yard- this book has already provided lots of inspiration to get me through the cold winter months as I prep for my spring planting!

I love this book. It has some fantastic ideas I hadn't thought of before... it gave us exactly what we needed when figuring out how to have water lines brought to animals and not having them freeze during the winter. Can't wait to put it to use. Lots of great things in this book and pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

I need to preface my review with two facts about myself… that made me want to read this book. First of all… I almost died during BRAIN-TUMOR-SURGERY fifteen years ago. I am a TOTALLY-BLESSED-GRATEFUL-BRAIN-TUMOR-SURVIVOR! Secondly… I played baseball my entire youth through young adulthood… and have remained a die-hard baseball fan my entire life. So when I heard about the storyline of this book... I was drawn to it. I have read literally hundreds upon hundreds of baseball books in my life… with many of them reviewed by me on Amazon. But that was not the driving force behind me buying this book. I obviously knew… and do know… what it feels like being the brain tumor patient facing the possibility of death… or in my mind… worse… the possibility of surviving and being a vegetable… but I wanted the chance to find out more about… how the people “around” the brain tumor patient/victim… reacted… and carried on around her. This was something when you’re the one being operated on and hopefully recovering… you can’t fully appreciate in detail… because you’re (if you’re blessed) too busy fighting to survive.A quick thumbnail sketch without a true spoiler… before I give my deeply seeded feelings after experiencing this story. The supposed protagonist is Rich Donnelly a big league baseball coach… who has four children… three boys… and one girl… my now “beloved” Amy. Amy died at nineteen-years-old from a brain tumor. The title… “The Chicken Runs at Midnight” was taken from a question Amy asked her Dad near the end of her ever-too-short-life… regarding his coaching style at third base. Anything on that particular item would be a spoiler… and you can learn more if you decide to read the book.Now… though the book is supposed to be Rich’s life story… I view the book as purely Amy’s wonderful short life… and as a byproduct you learn about her Father… who cheats on his wife and kids… who stops going to church… who starts drinking heavily… and try’s to put most of the blame for his deplorable loss of character and integrity on others. He blames Billy Martin… whom he terms as Mr. Chivas Regal… and other baseball men… for making him (in his mind) feel like he’ll lose his job in the big leagues if he doesn’t go out almost every night drinking and whoring around… despite the fact that he has a wife and four children at home. He blames subsequent managers on other teams for the same thing. He cheats with a girl sixteen years younger than him… and shacks up with her. And though Donnelly grew up very religious… he blames the baseball environment for making it too embarrassing… and possibly job threatening to be seen going to church.In addition the reader will learn in detail that Rich’s Father… abused him. NOT SEXUALLY… but mentally and physically. Rich carries over (as many do) some of these traits to his children. Poor Amy… the only girl in the family… so loves her Father… and only wants to please him… and he wouldn’t even let her participate in playing basketball with him and her brother in the driveway.Amy will steal your heart! What a beautiful gift G-d gave to mankind… though he took her too soon. She always wanted to be a teacher… and when she was a child she set up a classroom in their garage… and made her siblings and neighborhood kids attend class. She gave homework assignments… report cards… and sent notes home to students that needed to buckle up! One neighborhood mother complained her child brought home more disciplinary notes from Amy… than her child got from regular school. Her greatest joy for gifts on XMAS and birthdays… were things like blackboards and bulletin boards for her classroom in the garage.To further try to win favor with her Father… she started to play soccer on her own… and became one of the best in the area… she started to play basketball on her own and made the team… and then the tumor attacked. She loved baseball as a fan… and like the Father she was constantly trying to please… her favorite team was the Pittsburgh Pirates. When Donnelly became a coach for his childhood team… Amy and her brothers would spend some time each summer with their Dad (and later his new wife) and go to all the Pirate games. Amy being a girl… wasn’t allowed in the clubhouse so she stayed in the “green room” with the families… became a baby sitter for the players kids… and just like everywhere sweet… perky… tough… Amy went… she stole and owned everyone’s heart.There came a point after her Father destroyed the family with his wanton philandering… that Amy refused to talk to him. Eventually she slowly opened up to seeing him again… and would send him special little handwritten notes… which the author uses to great effect throughout the book.As Amy’s brain tumor spreads… and she continues fighting life’s toughest… unfair fight… her smiles get bigger… her heart gets sweeter… And I started to get sadder… and started to “miss” her. I found myself constantly going back to the pictures in the middle of the book… where you could see… sweet… effervescent… courageous… Amy… in every phase of her too short life.This book is truly Amy’s book… you don’t have to be a brain tumor survivor like me… to be touched deeply in your heart and soul… you’ll feel like you knew her… but just like everyone else… you’ll be sad you didn’t get to know her longer.G-d Bless you Amy!

I could not put this book down! I read it cover to cover over the holidays. The most inspiring, tragic yet touching, feel good book I've read since "The Pursuit of Happiness"! I'm a bit biased towards Rich Donnelly, having grown up in the early 90s in Pittsburgh. Being an avid baseball fan and him and Leyland's Pirates being the closest any Buccos fan was or will be to a World Series definitely brought back wonderful memories of my childhood watching those teams. Whilst those teams and the infamous "Sid Bream slide" are simply folklore now to my own son, reading what truly was going on behind the scenes with Rich's daughter makes those memories of my own all the more bittersweet. I literally got chills when I read the climax of the book in chapter 21...a book has never been able to do that for me! Truly remarkable story and definitely no coincidences in how all of this played out for the Donnelly family. OMG! I just realized, perhaps this was intentional by Rich or the author, Friend, but the book reaches its peak moment in chapter 21...Twenty-One...!!! That was the great Roberto Clemente's number! How appropriate that the most important, pivotal, touching, heartrending moment of this book occurs in the 21st chapter! Regardless if you are a Pirates fan or a baseball fan, this story will touch your soul and cast a new light on how you view the world... Nothing happens on accident... There is a purpose for everything! A great way and a great message to start the new year!!!

“The Chicken Runs at Midnight,” seems like an odd title until you read the story. Rich Donnelly takes you through his rough childhood to his career as a minor league player and manager. He also takes you through his major league career as a coach. They are all there: Ted Williams, Billy Martin, Bobby Valentine, Jim Leyland, Barry Bonds, Craig Counsell, Andy Van Slyke… An interesting story.

When our book club picked this book, at first I wasn't exactly thrilled. As a matter of fact, I wasn't sure I even wanted to read it! Of course I relented and read it. It was extremely good. I cried, I laughed, and I was amazed at the saying "- A Chicken Runs at Midnight!"

This book is so much more than just a baseball story. It's a story of the impact that a young girl had on so many people, especially her Dad. A great example of the influence that one person can have on so many people. C.R.A.M.

I heard about this story during a radio show and ordered the book shortly after. Reading this book made me feel as if I knew Rich Donnelly and his family and went through it all with them. Highly recommended

If this book doesn't inspire you to wanna make changes in your life, to give more of yourself, to love without condition...reread it, you missed the point

There were more enticing choices this month on Amazon First Reads than usual, so I took my time to select the most provocative suspense. I especially appreciated the bio of the author of “Hunt Them Down.”The opening displayed great potential, for enjoyment and for disappointment. By Chapter 4, I was, alas, leaning towards disappointment. Why?1 - The author gives us an info dump about Chicago and the street value of a kilo of heroin and how some $15 Mn is peanuts to a drug cartel. Granted, if done correctly, this sort of information CAN lend credibility, so at this point I’m not too concerned, but...2 - The writer decides he wants the embedded tv journalist (equipped with his own camera, I think, to be a hater of police “bullies” (author’s words, not mine). The reporter is a ‘prima donna’ who live tweets a raid, thus enabling an escape/defense by cartel members, who kill a member of the team. Mind you, all of this happens in the first three or four chapters, so I don’t consider these revelations to be spoilers. When you come across a reporter who dares to even think of his greatness stemming from tragedy, well, part of me wanted to toss my Kindle-app equipped iPad across the room. But, then, as a former journalist, I don’t view the media as an enemy of the people.But, I abhor reviews that reveal too much of a book’s plot, so will stop here.BLUSH FACTOR: One might expect an Action-Adventure to feature hard-edged characters evoking profanities. In that sense, there are no surprises here. Some will be disappointed in the number of eff-words, but, as for me, the language spoken felt real, even if the number exceeded the artistic needs. Put simply, don’t plan on reading to children or to your prayer group.CHARACTER: Early on, it felt as though the writer might be developing cartoon characters, but I also surmised he might be setting me up for turning the jerk reporter into a buddy to the agent later in the story, so I read on. Certainly, the agent (Hunt) felt like he was drawn on the author’s alter-ego.EXCERPT‘...Moore couldn’t believe his luck. He checked his live viewers. Ten thousand and climbing. Amazing. The likes were coming in faster than ever before. And so were the comments.He had filmed everything, including when the lead special agent—what was his name again? Oh yeah, Hunt—had shot the man who had just surrendered. Moore’s whole body was shaking—not from fear but from excitement. He quietly climbed out of the Durango and continued to film. The scene was surreal. The panel van had so many bullet holes that it looked like an infantry platoon had used it for target practice. Part of him wished innocent people had been inside the van when the DEA agents fired at it. That would’ve been the biggest law enforcement blunder in the history of Chicago. This book has me literally on the edge of my seat! Buckle up.. because you are in for a ride. I can barely put it down!

Sorry sir, first off the profanity in the book seems to be there just for effect but not sure if I would have liked it any betterThe conversations seemed stiff and robotic as well. Everything desirable in a life or death kidnapped teenage girl(s) tale of torture and revenge and acting maverick outside the box. Very very violent but very little over the top carnal behavior or sexual violence.

I try to finish every book I start, but after reading the first 80 pages, I just could not find anything interesting in this book to make it worth wasting the time to finish it.

The new release from Simon Gervais is breathtaking, an excellent selection! I’m so thrilled that I can’t wait for the next Pierce Hunt...!

If you own one, or collect the Rollei cameras and have many, you will enjoy this book. Nice summary on each of their cameras models, from twin lens to small pocket cameras. This book covers them all.

Great book,with well organized information on the models and years the various Rollie's were made. Book arrived in excellent condition too.

A somewhat dated guide but informative. I wish that it were more up to date. It is useful nonetheless. A loving and concise overview of Rollei Cameras.

I found this guide very helpful in identifying the various Rolleiflex models from one another. For example, Mr. Evans gives you enough information to easily determine dates, features etc. in order to tell a 3.5 Rolleiflex MX EVS (type 1) from a (type 2). He also includes just enough history about Franke & Heidecke and the Rollei Werke to make it interesting without straying too far away from the main purpose of the book. There are plenty of photos as well to give you a visual idea of what each model looks like. While he doesn't attempt to set pricing on the cameras, which would be both useless and nearly impossible to do anyway, he does list the original price for each camera/lens option which I found interesting. This book is not a operation manual, nor was it meant to be. Finally, the smallish overall size of the book makes it easy to pack along with you as a quick reference should you happen to go out rollei hunting.

This book has general informations about all cameras produced by Rollei before '80s. But more recent Rollei cameras are not in this book, e.g. Rollei 35 Classic. If you are a beginner into Rollei, it provides general information. If you need detailed information, this book may be not enough!
